Rendered with Arnold I hit the simple elements with Arnold displacement, volume lights, faux environment fog and depth of field.
In recent studies I have been surprised by how much I blur the renders in order to get the look I'm after.
Speed tree and x2 PBR materials.
Render time was 1 hr 43 mins, Arnold CPU, 3200 x 2132, Camera AA4 Dif3 Spec3 and extra light and environment samples.
I had trouble running displacement and volume lights via Arnold GPU which may have rendered in 30mins, I'll have to try that in the future.
